Novant Health's collaboration with UNC Health and UNC School of Medicine will bring new expertise and opportunities to New Hanover County, including more medical training, expanded pediatric programs and advanced research and clinical trials. If the partnership with NHRMC is approved, we'll see:

Expanded medical education
UNC School of Medicine will expand the Wilmington branch campus to 30 students, increasing the rural pipeline of new physicians to practice in eastern North Carolina.

More pediatric care
Novant Health-affiliated pediatric sites will develop a clinical partnership with UNC Children’s. We will expand outreach clinics in underserved areas and also offer access to pediatric specialists for complex care, including the use of telehealth from Chapel Hill.

Advanced research
The partnership will bring more access to clinical trials, research and population health expertise. Academic initiatives will include health equity, opioid addiction and social determinants of health.
