Dr. Philip Brown, Angela Lago Present at National Nutrition Conference

On October 27, a team of 6 leaders from NHRMC attended the annual conference of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in Philadelphia. Chief Physician Executive Dr. Philip Brown and Clinical Nutrition Manager Angela Lago presented a session titled "Dietitians Driving Impact: Data on Improved Patient Care from the Malnutrition Quality Improvement Initiative."

The two showcased the work of NHRMC's Malnutrition Transitions of Care program.They spoke about the program, which helps ensure patients receive proper nutrition after they leave our facilities.

They demonstrated a best-in-class example focusing on:

  • Describing how to capture data from key nutrition interventions across the continuum of care
  • Describing the critical role of the dietitian in leading interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and serving as a change agent for the culture of care
  • Discussing the evidence linking nutrition care delivery within and beyond the hospital with improved patient outcomes for hospitalized patients who are malnourished or at risk

Other NHRMC team members in attendance included; Tom Walsh, Wayne Strauss, Skip Allen & Ana Evans. NHRMC's Malnutrition Program was also featured in videos during the opening and closing sessions. The videos can be viewed on the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics web page.
