NHRMC’s Deb Hewitt was recently named Pharmacy Technician of the Year by the N.C. Association of Pharmacists.
The award had not been given out for many years, so the association was proud to honor Deb as they breathe new life into the recognition.
Here’s what the association had to say:
“To kick this award off, we could think of no more deserving technician than our 2019 recipient. She is the only technician that has attended every NCAP hosted Pharmacy Legislative Day in Raleigh over the past six years. This is a technician who has volunteered to serve on the NCAP Technician Task Force for the past two years. This is a technician who shares ideas and concepts to the NCAP office on topics that are not only relevant for technicians, but which also appeal to pharmacists. An example of this commitment to pharmacy, is that this technician is the only technician to submit and lead a roundtable topic during Convention this year.
“This is also a technician who has attended the NCAP Convention faithfully over the years, including last year after Hurricane Florence flooded her home, she made her way to Winston-Salem because she said, ‘I just find so much value in attending the convention, and despite the mess I left at home, I did not want to miss out.’
“This is the kind of technician we all want supporting our pharmacists, and the kind of NCAP member we should all aspire to emulate: the 2019 NCAP Technician of the Year, Deb Hewitt from New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.”
