The Jack Barto Center for Employee Fitness is excited to announce a new Personal Safety Self Defense class. Specific for women, this six-week course is created to help educate environmental awareness and teach escape and defense skills.
The course includes lecture, discussion and self-defense techniques suitable for women of all ages and abilities.
Certified Personal Trainers Courtnie Whaley and Ryan Howard were recently qualified and will be hosting the class series. They are excited to teach females proper skills that could protect them and their loved ones. “Females are vulnerable to attack at various times throughout the day. Walking home from work, loading groceries in the car, and other activities where they may be alone or distracted,” said Whaley. “We want to be able to teach basic principles of what to be aware of, how to position yourself correctly, and ultimately how to defend yourself if the scenario arises. These skills could possibly save their lives,” added Howard.
The first session of the Personal Safety Self Defense Class will begin Saturday, September 21 and is currently taking applications.
