New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s Betty H. Cameron Women’s & Children’s Hospital has received prestigious international recognition as a Re-Designated Baby-Friendly birth facility. This designation recognizes hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of family-centered care and education on infant feeding and mother/baby bonding.
Based on the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding, this award recognizes birth facilities that offer breastfeeding mothers the information, confidence, and skills needed to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies.
“We are honored to receive the Baby-Friendly designation,” said Betty H. Cameron Hospital’s Administrator, Kristi Baker. “The Women’s & Children’s team has worked diligently to secure this recognition. I am very proud of our team, and our continued effort to provide the best care for the women and children of our region.”
The Baby-Friendly re-designation is given after a rigorous on-site survey is completed. The award is maintained by continuing to practice the Ten Steps as demonstrated by quality processes.
