A total of nearly 4,000 pounds of medication and close to 40,000 sharps were collected at Saturday’s Medication Disposal event.
The event, organized by NHRMC, included a number of community partners and NHRMC volunteers, collected medication and sharps at 19 locations across six counties in southeastern North Carolina.
The collected medications will be incinerated and the sharps will be properly disposed of through NHRMC’s system.
Properly disposing of these unwanted medications keeps them from being accidentally ingested and keeps them from polluting our waterways.
New Hanover Regional Medical Center appreciates the support of the community, volunteers and our partners in making this event a success. Thank you to everyone who helped make our community a safer place to live by being a part of this event.
