The North Carolina Hospitals Association on Tuesday delivered 293 checks for NHRMC system employees affected by Hurricane Florence.
The NCHA made the Disaster Relief funds available to employees of North Carolina hospitals in regions hit hardest by the storm.
"It's our privilege to give back to member hospitals whose employees work 24/7, 365 days a year," said Jai Kumar, Sr. Director of Advancement for NCHA.
Altogether, the NCHA distributed funds to 544 employees of North Carolina Hospitals. NHRMC received the most, Kumar said, both because it is a large employer and because the region was one of the hardest hit.
The NCHA money was provided in addition to insurance, FEMA and NHRMC hurricane relief funds. Shortly after the storm, NHRMC distributed gift cards to all employess, and the NHRMC Foundation organized a Relief Fund that provided money to help employees find new housing, repair their own homes or defray other storm-related expenses.
