New Hanover Regional Medical Center and the Brigade Boys & Girls Club are teaming up to host a Community Christmas Bash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15. The event will be held at Brigade Boys & Girls Club, 2759 Vance St., Wilmington.
The event is free and open to the public and will feature free blood pressure and cholesterol checks, music, food, and giveaways.
This event is part of NHRMC’s focus on health equity, which entails assuring support to all individuals in achieving their highest level of health regardless of circumstances that can potentially result in subpar health outcomes.
NHRMC has concentrated efforts to focus on this approach in specific neighborhoods of high need. Other events include Dancin’ in the Park, a free outdoor fitness series that promotes
physical activity, healthy lifestyle choices, and community relationships within the Northside community of Wilmington, and NHRMC’s Barbershop Initiative, which offers health services such as blood pressure checks, flu vaccines and cholesterol screenings in Wilmington barbershops.
