Celebrities and athletes from the Willie Stargell Foundation Celebrity Invitational visited the dialysis unit at New Hanover Regional Medical Center on November 9.

The Stargell Foundation is a prominent supporter of the dialysis unit, which is named for Stargell, who had kidney disease after he retired in Wilmington.

The Celebrity Invitational is held each year and helps raise money to help fight kidney disease. As part of the weekend, the athletes and celebrities tour the dialysis unit at NHRMC.

This year, patients got to meet sports stars such as Josh Bell, John Candelaria, Cliff Levingston, Kirani James, Brian Jordan, Eddie Murray, and Al Oliver. A few even got to meet former Harlem Globetrotter Larry "Gator" Rivers, who brought a basketball with him (see video below).
