Terri DeWees will become Director of Trauma Services at New Hanover Regional Medical Center effective July 28.
DeWees has served NHRMC in emergency/trauma nursing leadership for more than a decade.
Most recently, she was manager of Emergency Department-North, NHRMC’s new emergency department providing convenient access for patients in northern New Hanover County, Pender County and Onslow County. DeWees was instrumental in launching ED-North and guiding it as it exceeded all expectations for sustained volume and patient satisfaction.
DeWees recently received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership from East Carolina University.
“Through her leadership, the successful team at ED-North is delivering quality care and service to that part of our community,” said Mary Ellen Bonczek, NHRMC Chief Nurse Executive. “The recent completion of her DNP will provide her with a deeper understanding of the healthcare system as she leads our Trauma Program to the next level."
In her new role, DeWees looks forward to having the opportunity to continue to support the provision of high-quality trauma care to the community and playing a role in continuing the improvement of trauma care for the region.
“We are excited about what Terri can do for the community in this new role,” said Mary Ellen Bonczek, NHRMC Chief Nurse Executive. “She has the experience and enthusiasm to do a great job, and her dedication to the health of our community is evident in everything she does.”
