The DNV Stroke Accreditation Survey has concluded, with the surveyor giving the NHRMC stroke program some high praise. The surveyor told the team what we're doing here is "phenomenal" and one of the best in the country. She said she was particularly impressed with our treatment times and the support of leadership and physicians for the program, including doctors James McKinney, Jeffrey Beecher, and Vinodh Doss.
Director of Clinical Excellence Claire Corbett led the effort to build the stroke program and take it through this reaccreditation survey.
Chief Nurse Executive Mary Ellen Bonczek thanked Corbett for all her work and reflected on the impact of the stroke program. "So many of us have had friends or family afflicted by stroke. We have seen what they can go through," Bonczek said. "To see this how this program has grown is remarkable."
Teams from around the system took part in the survey. The surveyor visited the emergency department, CT interventional radiology, surgical trauma ICU, and the stroke unit. They also went through HR and medical staff office files.
All the findings from last year were closed and only one new one was opened around documentation.
"We had a fantastic survey," Corbett said. "Thanks to all who worked so hard to make it happen.”
