New Hanover Regional Medical Center is pleased to welcome Timothy James Novosel, MD, FACS, as the Medical Director of Trauma Services.
“Dr. Novosel brings the experience and skill set to enable NHRMC to jump to the next level as a Trauma Center,” said Thomas Clancy, MD, outgoing Medical Director of Trauma Services.
Dr. Novosel previously practiced at Sentara Norfolk General, Leigh Hospital located in Norfolk, Va. and Virginia Beach, Va., and at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Va. He has held various academic and leadership positions at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Novosel received his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he also completed his residency. He received his Bachelor of Science in biochemistry with a minor in biology from Indiana University in Bloomington.
Throughout his career, Dr. Novosel has received various awards and recognitions for his work. During his residency, he received the John Baker Award, which is given to the most outstanding senior resident decided by the community and faculty. In both 2014 and 2016, he received the Community Surgeon of the Year award presented by Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.
In addition to his appointment in Trauma Services, Dr. Novosel will also see patients at NHRMC Physician Specialists – General Surgery Specialists, which offers a wide range of surgical services, specializing in abdominal wall and gastrointestinal procedures, using a variety of different approaches.
