Sylvia Ponder Retirement Tea Set for June 27

June 25, 2018

Sylvia Ponder has been called “the Heartbeat of Radiation Oncology.” Hired at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in August 1992 as an appointment clerk for the OBGYN outpatient clinics, Sylvia worked in various capacities until she landed with the Radiation team in June 2002.  Since then, Sylvia has been the link that ties all areas of care center together.  She has been named Employee of Excellence and has given countless hours of care and compassion to the many cancer patients and their families in our community.

Through her love of baking and art, Sylvia has supported the NHRMC’s Pink Ribbon Project, making cancer awareness bracelets since 2009. To date, Sylvia has raised $4,830 toward the project, which supports cancer patients in our community.

Please join us on Wednesday, June 27 from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Zimmer Cancer Center Main Conference Room for a retirement celebration of Sylvia’s career at NHRMC.
