The annual nursing gala, Celebrate the Gold, has long been established as one of the top annual celebrations at NHRMC. This year’s gala did not disappoint as our nurses and their supporters filled up the Coastline Convention Center, some dressed in glamorous Prohibition Era flapper dresses with feathered headbands, others wearing fedoras and suspenders as Jack Jack 180 played dance tunes to keep the party hopping.

Many departments at NHRMC assembled gift baskets for auction, and they helped raise thousands of dollars as lively bidding wars continued until the last possible second.

The event raises money for the Nursing Resource Fund, which helps our nurses further their education and earn certifications. This year’s event raised more than $47,000 – shattering last year’s record total of $34,000!

“We asked our NHRMC and community family to support our nurses, and they resoundingly said ‘Yes!’” said Ruth Marescalco, co-chair of Nursing Congress. “Our medical staff, fellow co-workers, family members, business partners and our surrounding community enthusiastically gave us their support and recognized how important the nurses are to them at NHRMC.”

Mary Ellen Bonczek, NHRMC Chief Nurse Executive, was excited about the support shown for our nurses.

“When your system is driven by devoted, caring nurses who connect with our patients and their families, you need only look to your left and your right to be inspired,” she said.

“At NHRMC, we support our nurses’ growth and education, and they use their expertise to deliver excellent care to our community. The tremendous success of Celebrate the Gold will help us fulfill our mission.”

The event was organized by The NHRMC Foundation and Nursing Congress, which is actively recruiting new members.
