NHRMC Honors Volunteers During Appreciation Week

Vol Appreciation

As part of National Volunteer Week, NHRMC honored its dedicated volunteers at a dinner Monday evening.

Since New Hanover Memorial Hospital opened 50 year ago, volunteers have provided their time, efforts and energy to patients and their families.  NHRMC Volunteer Services, along with more than 70 departments, are honored to work with more than 900 dedicated and compassionate volunteers who donate their time to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Volunteers vary in age and skills, devoting their time to many key projects including helping patients navigate MyChart, assisting in discharging patients, helping patients and visitors navigate our many campuses, and so much more.

In 2017, volunteers donated more than 178,000 hours across the organization. The monetary value of volunteers’ contribution to NHRMC in 2017 was more than $4.3 million; the value of the comfort they bring to our patients and the relief they provide to our staff is immeasurable.

Please take a moment this week to show our volunteers how much we appreciate their service and what a valuable asset they are to the organization.
