New Hanover Regional Medical Center showed up in full force in October to raise money for the American Heart Association. As Chairman of the 2017 AHA Heart Walk, I was proud to see the sea of teal as our employees and families walked for a healthier future.
Funds from the Heart Walk will be used to help save lives from this country’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers – heart disease and stroke.
Your commitment to this event helped the AHA exceed its goal of raising $200,000. NHRMC alone raised more than $50,000, and 193 walkers participated on our teams. Your passion for this event showed everyone in this region that NHRMC is committed to Leading Our Community to Outstanding Health.
As a reward for your fund-raising efforts, NHRMC is distributing rewards to employees who raised a certain amount of money.
Here’s a breakdown of the prizes we awarded:
- Every walker who raised $250 individually: Received 2 movie tickets in the mail
- Every walker who raised $100 individually: Name was entered into a drawing for 8 hours PDO – the winner is Bonnie Frasier, Facilities Administration
- Every walker who raised $500 individually: Name was entered into a drawing for a personal parking space for one year – the winner is Cheryl Cummings, Emergency Department, Patient Assistance Center
- Every team that raised $250 or more: Movie tickets will be delivered to Team Captain for team drawing
Every time NHRMC finds a way to help our community, our employees across the system respond with enthusiasm. I am humbled by your passion to help others and look forward to the impact we can have on our community in the future.
Thank you,
John Gizdic
