Winter Storm Tuesday 7 pm Update

January 01, 2018
StormTotalSnowWeb7amW

We are now expecting up to three inches of snow and some freezing rain, starting Wednesday and into Thursday morning, potentially making travel difficult.
As a result, we will begin sheltering in place on Wednesday, January 3rd at 1 p.m. at which time you will not be able to come and go from the facilities until the shelter-in-place is lifted and it is safe to travel.

That means:

  • Non-essential staff should be prepared to leave at noon.
  • Essential staff working first shift should plan to stay overnight and until the shelter-in-place is lifted,
  • Second and third shift staff need to be at their facility by one o’clock and also be prepared to stay until the shelter-in-place is lifted.
The Children’s Learning Center will open as normal Wednesday. Parents with children at the CLC should use it rather than the storm childcare center Wednesday morning. The CLC may close early depending on weather. Parents are asked to develop a plan for picking up their children. In the event no other option is available, the CLC and managers will work with staff who are on day shift to allow them time to pick up their children and bring them to the hospital's Storm Childcare.

NHRMC will open storm childcare for children whose parents have no other option for covering a required shift.  The center will open at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday in Classrooms C and D in the AHEC basement area.  Parents should pack extra clothes as well as things to entertain your children and needed medications.  In order to protect the health of our staff and patients, we will not allow children into our storm childcare area who have had any type of cold or flu-like symptoms within the last few days.

There will be another update Wednesday morning before 10 a.m. Please check this line, Capslive or email.
