New Hanover Regional Medical Center is now in its 6th round of New Graduate Nurses since the kickoff of the Mentorship Program. Staff nurses working with nursing leadership have revised and made the program stronger. We have been striving to enhance the development and professional growth of new RN graduates, develop a culture of interpersonal support between nurses, increase RN satisfaction, and support our new nurses as they transition from novice to expert.
This program offers structured education and ongoing support of mentors that includes paid time for meetings between the mentor and mentee outside of work. We also hold quarterly meetings for our mentors and mentees with education and team building activities.
We have almost 40 new graduates starting in February, and we need incredible mentors for them. We are seeking nurses from all disciplines, not just nurses at the bedside.
We are looking for nurses who:

- Listen well and can provide feedback

- Present a positive outlook
- Have coaching skills
