James Bryant, new Administrator of Emergency Services at NHRMC, is excited about the staff and being part of New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
“I’m totally impressed with the team here,” said Bryant, who comes to NHRMC from the Cleveland Clinic Health System, where he served most recently as Associate Chief Nursing Officer – Emergency Services and Clinical Practice.
Bryant said he was eager to return to caring directly for patients and working closely with staff.
“I am very excited about James joining out leadership team and NHRMC family,” said Amy Akers, Vice President of Patient Services. “He brings experience and knowledge that will help us drive our strategic plan forward in truly living our mission.”
A key component of that plan is population health, and Bryant said that topic is “a passion of mine.”
He’s impressed by the sexual assault nurse examiners and forensic nursing programs at NHRMC.
“I’m looking to continue growing a team that will remain motivated and engaged,” Bryant said. “We have an opportunity to make this ED into something even more special.”
Bryant has twice received the Cleveland Clinic Innovation Award, was honored in North Carolina’s Great 100 Nurses in 2006 and was selected runner-up for Best Nurse Leader in 2005 by Advance for Nurses magazine.
Bryant holds a Doctorate in Nursing Practice and holds numerous nursing certifications, including Certified Emergency Nurse, Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse and Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse.
Bryant began his career as a staff nurse in North Carolina and progressed to Director of of Emergency, Outpatient and Transport Services at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center before joining the Cleveland Clinic.
