STOCKTON_LUANN_003WILMINGTON, NC – New Hanover Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that LuAnn Stockton, laboratories manager for the NHRMC Emergency Department – North, has been named a NHRMC Leader of Excellence.

Stockton’s coworkers nominated her for being an extremely talented individual who can quickly assess a problem, formulate an action plan and implement a solution, all while maintaining the highest level of professionalism.

Stockton is a skilled manager of change. When she first assumed leadership of her department, she systematically began to address staffing, workflow, quality and morale issues in an organized, logical way. She developed a plan to upgrade and implement new technology, while maintaining a lean, efficient operation.

“New graduates and experienced staff learn to soar under her leadership. She mentors and encourages her team to seek new opportunities to learn and grow, achieving new certifications and expertise that benefit them – and the organization,” said Kevin Briggs, administrative director of NHRMC network laboratory. “She is a cheerleader for furthering education and pursuing promotional opportunities while leading her department and the network on to the next level of performance.”

The NHRMC Employee, Leader and Physician of Excellence program is a way for the organization to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of its employees. Employees are nominated and selected by their peers for high performance in four key areas: communication, compassion, teamwork and ownership. Three leaders are selected annually.
