WILMINGTON, NC – New Hanover Regional Medical Center has opened a one-mile walking path around the front of the main campus. The path was designed to provide an outlet for physical activity for employees, patients and visitors.
The path, which takes approximately 20 minutes to walk, was developed through the vision of Hemant Drewv Magan, a senior at the Lyceum Academy of New Hanover High School.
“I was inspired to create the one-mile walking trail around the hospital so that the staff, patients and their families will have a beautiful place to exercise, relieve stress and enjoy the fresh air,” said Magan.
Magan partnered with the NHRMC Foundation to raise funds to complete the pathway, which also features benches and exercise stations.
“We are grateful to Drewv for recognizing the value of giving our visitors, patients, and employees an outdoor space to re-energize and focus on their health and wellbeing,” said NHRMC Foundation Vice President of Development and Executive Director Schorr Davis.
