Dr. William Curtis Joins NHRMC Maxillofacial Surgical Team

William Curtis MDWILMINGTON, NC – NHRMC Physician Specialists – Maxillofacial Surgery is pleased to announce that William J. Curtis, DMD, MD, has joined the practice.

Dr. Curtis specializes in head and neck cancer and microvascular reconstructive surgery, comprehensive facial trauma surgery, and sleep apnea surgery.

Dr. Curtis joins the NHRMC community from the University of Kentucky where he successfully implemented a comprehensive head and neck surgery and microvascular reconstruction program in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

He is excited by the opportunity to develop a team in conjunction with the community providers and the NHRMC Zimmer Cancer Center to provide surgical treatment and free flap reconstruction for patients with cancer and other pathologic diseases of the face, mouth, head, and neck.

“The addition of Dr. Curtis to our group will provide the patients of southeastern North Carolina convenient access to expert surgical care for conditions and diseases effecting the neck, head and mouth,” said Michael Jaskolka, MD, DDS, FACS.

Dr. Curtis received fellowship training in head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstruction from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. He also completed an additional fellowship in cleft and craniomaxillofacial surgery at the Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, WV.

He is a graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston where he received his doctoral degree in medicine, completed a general surgery internship, and his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Curtis is a graduate of the UNLV School of Dental Medicine in Las Vegas and attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT.

He is moving to Wilmington with his wife Melanie and their four children.
