WILMINGTON, NC – New Hanover Regional Medical Center is launching a social media campaign to inspire and engage those who are battling, or have battled cancer, and those who want to express support for them.
Using Facebook and Twitter, the “Because You Matter” campaign asks social media users to share inspiring words, photos and videos to motivate, reassure and express appreciation for those who have been touched by cancer. The campaign runs in conjunction with the NHRMC Zimmer Cancer Center
renovation project that will further expand the comprehensive services offered to patients in our region. The “Because You Matter” campaign will run through the fall of 2017, when the renovation is expected to be complete.
“Our patients, staff and physicians inspire us every day with strength, determination, honesty, humility and even humor,” said Henry Hawthorne, administrator of oncology services for NHRMC. “We are inspired to provide quality care to our patients while also spreading messages of support and healing beyond the walls of the NHRMC Zimmer Cancer Center and Cape Fear Cancer Specialists locations so everyone in our community can have a voice in inspiring others.”
To participate, Facebook and Twitter users are encouraged to share six words, a snapshot or a short video to illustrate what matters or is inspiring to those facing cancer. Look for regularly posted graphics on the NHRMC Facebook page and Twitter feed, and post inspirations in the comment line. Users can also post on their own pages using the hashtag #BecauseYouMatterAtNHRMC or #nhrmc.
