WILMINGTON, NC – NHRMC Physician Group is pleased to welcome John J. Rommel, MD, to the Cape Fear Heart Associates
Dr. Rommel is a cardiologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic congestive heart failure through medication, mechanical circulatory support and cardiac transplantation.
Dr. Rommel will lead the expansion of the Congestive Heart
Failure Program at NHRMC. As the program adds subspecialties, more heart patients will be able to receive more of their treatment locally.

Dr. Rommel earned his undergraduate degree in neuroscience from Brown University in Providence, RI, and his medical degree from the Brown University Warren Alpert Medical School. After a residency in internal medicine at University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill, he completed fellowships in cardiovascular disease and advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at UNC Hospitals. Dr. Rommel is board certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine.
