WILMINGTON, NC – The New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation is scheduled to host its 16th Annual Founders’ Gala on Saturday, Jan. 30, presented by Dr. Lenard Edralin of Knox Clinic Pediatrics.
The gala, inspired this year by painter Vincent van Gogh’s work "The Starry Night," is the premier black-tie event in the area and will be held in the Air Wilmington Hangar at ILM Airport. An amazing variety of shades of blue and yellow will illuminate the venue giving guests the illusion of being underneath the fluid night sky.
Featuring live music, dancing and epicurean delights from Wilmington’s top chefs, this yearly event is dedicated solely to supporting the NHRMC Betty H. Cameron Women’s and Children’s Hospital and is expected to gather more than 600 supporters.
The goal of this year’s event is to raise funds for the purchase of advanced equipment for the direct evaluation of the airway in pediatric patients with respiratory conditions such as asthma, chronic lung diseases, sleep apnea and respiratory infections. Items to be funded include: a rhinolaryngoscope, a complete tower to video stream and record bronchoscopic evaluations, trilogy vent and a 2.8 pediatric flexible bronchoscope.
More than $198,000 was raised at the 2015 Founders’ Gala for the purchase of a web camera system known as NICVIEW. This live-streaming camera system was installed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the NHRMC Betty H. Cameron Women’s and Children’s Hospital and makes it possible for parents to view their babies from a secure online portal. This technology makes it possible for families to bond with their hospitalized infant from any computer or mobile device.
