Four Primary Care Physicians Join New Hanover Medical Group

WILMINGTON, NC – New Hanover Medical Group – NHRMC Physician Group is pleased to announce that GiGi MacDonald, MD; William McLeod, DO, MBA; Toni M. Melville, MD; and Latessa Smith Spiers, MD, have joined the practice.

These four providers replace the recently retired Charles M. Almond, MD; J. William Eakins, MD; Clifford T. Lewis, MD; and Neill Musselwhite, MD.

Dr. MacDonald recently completed a residency in internal medicine at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, where she was also an assistant professor of internal medicine. Dr. MacDonald received a doctorate in medicine from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, and a bachelor’s degree in zoology from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, where she graduated valedictorian and summa cum laude. She is board certified in internal medicine.

Dr. McLeod recently completed a residency in family medicine at New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s program affiliated with the UNC School of Medicine. He received a doctorate in osteopathy from Kansas City University in Kansas City, MO. Dr. McLeod also received a master’s degree in business administration from Rockhurst University in Kansas City and a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from N.C. State University. Dr. McLeod is board certified in family medicine.

Dr. Melville recently completed a residency in family medicine at Coastal Family Medicine with New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s program affiliated with the UNC School of Medicine. Prior to that, she received a doctorate in medicine from the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, where she was a presidential ambassador. Dr. Melville also completed a bachelor’s degree in biology, graduating cum laude, from SUNY at Geneseo in Geneseo, NY.

Dr. Spiers has 20 years experience in internal medicine including work in private practice, as a hospitalist, a medical consultant and an instructor. She completed a residency in internal medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. Dr. Spiers also received a doctorate in medicine from East Carolina University in Greenville, and a bachelor’s of science degree from Davidson College in Davidson. Dr. Spiers is board certified in internal medicine.
