WILMINGTON, N.C. – NHRMC Physician Group is pleased to announce that William F. Powers IV, MD, has joined the General Surgery Specialists practice. Dr. Powers is fellowship trained in surgical critical care and board certified in general surgery. He will serve as an assistant professor of surgery in the NHRMC Surgery Residency Program.
Dr. Powers will provide elective general surgery services as well as acute care surgery services to include trauma, critical care and emergency general surgery. His special interests include traumatic brain injury, coagulopathy of trauma, advanced mechanical ventilation, complex abdominal wall reconstruction, and development of evidenced-based surgical best practices.
“Dr. Powers’ experience as a resident in our program will provide invaluable insight into how we can continue to evolve and grow our educational offerings. We are excited to welcome him back as our newest faculty member,” said Surgery Residency Program Director Thomas V. Clancy, MD.
Dr. Powers graduated summa cum laude from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia and attended medical school at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He completed his general surgery residency at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, and a fellowship in surgical critical care at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
