Urological Surgery Now Available at Pender Memorial Hospital

BURGAW – Area residents can now get surgical treatment of urological conditions at Pender Memorial Hospital. Britt Zimmerman, DO, urologist with Atlantic Urology - NHRMC Physician Group began performing procedures at the hospital in Burgaw on October 22. Anesthesiologist Amy Isenberg, MD, assisted on the case. Physician anesthesia coverage for Pender Memorial Hospital is now being provided by American Anesthesiology of the Carolinas, the same practice that provides anesthesiologists for New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Zimmerman is board certified and fellowship-trained in urology, specializing in general and trauma reconstructive surgery, kidney stone disease and sexual health. Dr. Zimmerman is the former Chief of Urology at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan, received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at the Henry Ford Hospital System and a fellowship in Urological Trauma and Reconstruction at the Detroit Medical Center.
