David Glendenning, New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s EMS Education Coordinator, has been awarded the first annual Marlene Sigler Scholarship.
Named in honor of Marlene Sigler, an exceptional leader at NHRMC who lost her battle with multiple myeloma last year, the scholarship is awarded to an individual who is enrolled in a higher education program, works in cardiac health care, and exhibits characteristics of commitment to cardiovascular care, leadership, mentoring of others, focus on collaboration and teamwork, and dedication to community service.
Glendenning was selected for his passion and dedication to improving the delivery of cardiac care. He has been instrumental in the implementation of the "pit crew" approach to cardiac arrest resuscitation and the training of over 6,000 citizens in hands only CPR. Glendenning is pursuing an Associate's Degree in EMS Science from Lenoir Community College.
NHRMC is proud to honor Marlene Sigler’s values of community service, leadership, teamwork and education by awarding this scholarship to Mr. Glendenning.
