WILMINGTON – Area children created artwork this weekend that will decorate the ceilings of the Betty H. Cameron Women’s & Children’s Hospital and Nunnelee Pediatric Clinic. Monteith Construction and the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation hosted Tiles for Smiles on Saturday, March 19 to raise money for the Pediatric Pharmacy Fund, a fund established to help provide needed medication to pediatric patients whose families cannot afford them. More than 200 children and their families painted ceiling tiles and enjoyed entertainment from DanZquest, Gracie the Clown, Sweet and Sassy and the Carolina Panthers’ cheerleaders. The event raised more than $5,000 for the Pediatric Pharmacy Fund.
Many families struggle with the high cost of medications for their children. The Pediatric Pharmacy Fund helps families in Southeastern North Carolina cover the cost of critical medications for their children. Children who are seen at the Betty H. Cameron Women’s & Children’s Hospital or the Nunnelee Pediatric Clinic are eligible to benefit from the fund.
Donations to the Pediatric Pharmacy Fund can be made at www.nhrmcfoundation.org and all contributions stay in the area to help local families.
New Hanover Regional Medical Center is the leading provider of quality and accessible health care in Southeastern North Carolina, delivering care to all in need, without the support of taxpayer dollars. The medical center takes seriously its responsibility as an economic engine for the community, creating more than 4,500 jobs directly and another 3,000 jobs indirectly.
