BURGAW – Ruth Glaser has joined Pender Memorial Hospital as its president. Glaser brings extensive experience in hospital management to her new role. Glaser most recently worked at Scotland Healthcare System in Laurinburg, North Carolina as Senior Vice President of Operations and Chief Operating Officer. She had been with the system for almost 13 years. Prior to that, she worked at New Hanover Regional Medical Center as Director of Ambulatory Care.
At Pender Memorial Hospital, Glaser says she will focus on growing the services of the hospital while continually improving quality of care and patient satisfaction.
“There are a lot of opportunities here,” said Glaser. “Coming from a rural hospital, I know the value of offering services close to home. I will be working to grow the hospital with new services and additional physicians and midlevel providers.”
Glaser has moved to Burgaw with her husband, Bob Woolard, who recently retired from the police force, and her five-year old daughter, Sarah, who will be starting school in the fall.
“I have really been focusing on getting to know the staff and physicians at Pender Memorial Hospital, as well as the community we serve” Glaser said. “I have been very impressed by the level of commitment I have seen to this hospital. The amount of support we get from our employees and from the community is really incredible.”
