PMH employees show strong support for Pender Fund Campaign

May 20, 2009
Despite difficult economic times, nearly 40 percent of Pender Memorial Hospital’s employees came together to raise $5,576 for the Pender Fund during the 2009 Employee Campaign.

“By participating in this campaign, our employees demonstrated their belief in the work that we are doing and support for the future of our hospital,” said David Long, PMH administrator. “Our employees wanted to support this campaign because they have seen how we have used these dollars in the past to fund projects that weren’t necessarily in the budget but made a big difference to our hospital.”

Donations made to the Pender Fund are held and administered by the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation. The funds are used to make health care better for the residents of Pender County and the surrounding areas. They supplement the quality of health care by providing “extra touches” that help patients and visitors feel more comfortable when they have to be at the hospital.

“As a volunteer member of the Board of Trustees, I know there are many valuable ways you can give to this hospital, and we certainly appreciate donations of time and talent,” said Al Owens, PMH Board Chair. “However, these tax-deductible financial contributions help us to do so many important things around the facility while staying within our budgetary limits. I am very proud of our employees for their generosity.”
