The danger of diabetes myths

April 22, 2009
You’ve heard it all before. “Healthy foods won’t raise your blood sugar.” “As long as I feel okay, my blood sugar doesn’t really matter.” “If my vision is good, my eyes are fine.” Unfortunately, these diabetes myths can be very harmful to your health if you don’t know the difference between fact and fiction.

The topic for the April Diabetes Support Group session will be “The Danger of Diabetes Myths.” Please join Certified Diabetes Educator Maureen Drake, RN, on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Heritage Place on 901 S. Walker St. to learn the truth about these diabetes tall tales. The support group is sponsored by Pender Memorial Hospital's Diabetes Education Department, and is free and open to the public.
