In 2013, New Hanover Regional Medical Center received the Mission: Lifeline Gold Award, from the American Heart Association for commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients that effectively improves the survival and care of STEMI (ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction) patients. NHRMC Cardiovascular Symposium
The NHRMC Cardiovascular Symposium is New Hanover Regional Medical Center's Annual Cardiovascular Event. In 2014, it will be held September 18 and 19. More details to come.
American Heart Association's Mission: Lifeline
Mission: Lifeline® was created by the American Heart Association as a response to missed opportunities for prompt, appropriate STEMI treatment. Recently, Mission: Lifeline expanded to help existing STEMI systems of care incorporate out-of-hospital cardiac resuscitation into their systems.
Initiated and funded by the Medtronic Foundation, the HeartRescue Project is designed to improve how Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is recognized, treated and measured in the United States.
STEMI Accelerator Program
The Regional Systems of Care Demonstration Project: Mission LifelineTM STEMI System Accelerator provides an intense focus to develop and refine systems of care for the ST elevation myocardial infarction patient by engaging multiple entities that provide emergency medical care and reperfusion therapy within the same geographical region.
The Regional Approach to Cardiovascular Emergencies (RACE) project is a North Carolina statewide system for providing rapid coordinated care of cardiovascular emergencies. The current phase called RACE CARS (Cardiac Arrest Resuscitation System) is focusing on out of hospital cardiac arrest.
