Emergency and Trauma
New Hanover Regional Medical Center's Emergency Services Department is highly integrated to help ensure patients get the best care possible. It includes the region's only Level II Trauma Center and Emergency Departments at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Cape Fear Hospital and Pender Memorial Hospital.
It also incorporates New Hanover Regional EMS, which operates the region's paramedic service as well as a critical care transport system with VitaLink, mobile intensive care units and AirLink, an air ambulance service. Widely recognized for its outstanding level of care, New Hanover Regional EMS was named North Carolina's first model system.
Finally, for people who have medical questions that don't need to be answered in a doctor's office or the emergency department, there's VitaLine , a 24-hour nurse call system.
