Sophisticated Care for the Ones You Hold Dearest
Ensuring the good health and well-being of a child is a parent's greatest desire. But that doesn't just happen on its own. It takes a community of experts with the very best resources in a one-of-a-kind facility. In southeastern North Carolina that facility is the Betty H. Cameron Women's & Children's Hospital, a place that offers technically advanced care to all infants and children up to age 18. With physicians solely dedicated to the care of hospitalized children and equipment designed to meet the size-specific needs of the pediatric patient, the care of your child - if seriously ill or injured - will be some of the finest pediatric medicine has to offer.
New Hanover Regional Medical Center is dedicated to helping children stay close to home for their care. We recognize how important it is for children to be near those who love and support them. For this reason, we have designed our programs and environments to minimize the impact an illness or injury can have on their lives and the lives of their families.

Depending on a child's age and the severity of his or her illness or injury, he or she may be admitted to any one of three neonatal or pediatric units at the Betty H. Cameron Women's and Children's Hospital. They are: the Pediatrics Unit, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or NICU, and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, or PICU.
For babies born premature or critically ill, the NICU offers a range of technically advanced, lifesaving care aimed at optimizing infant wellness. Other benefits of the NICU include developmentally supportive care, where human touch is used to promote a baby's emotional wellness.
Our 17-bed, all-private room Pediatrics Unit cares for babies and children up to 18 years recovering from serious illness or surgery. The unit is home to a highly specialized pediatric medical staff available 24/7, including 3 pediatric hospitalists and 2 pediatric intensivists.
