Joy and promise. To cancer patients and their loved-ones, these words can often seem out of reach.
With significant advances in cancer research and treatment in recent decades, however, they're words that from the moment of diagnosis are getting much, much closer.
Within New Hanover Regional Medical Center Zimmer Cancer Center and its community of cancer survivors, these words of hope are part of everyday conversation.
Home to highly trained cancer physicians, nurses and support staff, the Zimmer Cancer Center is southeastern North Carolina's only community cancer center dedicated solely to the diagnosis, treatment and support of people with cancer. It houses outpatient services, including chemotherapy, infusion therapy and radiation therapies. It also hosts NHRMC's clinical trials program, giving local residents a chance to participate in leading-edge national treatment studies.
And while experts at treating cancer, Zimmer staff know surviving cancer depends on more than just medicine and technology. Survival and healing also depend on sharing through words, messages and stories the experience that is cancer.
That's why NHRMC is inviting area cancer survivors, their loved ones and the medical professionals who treat cancer
