Pender Memorial Hospital Renovations Underway 08/21/2012 Construction has begun to renovate and improve Pender Memorial Hospital. When complete, the hospital will have an upgraded CT scanner and room more conveniently located near the Emergency Department. It will also have a newly designed front lobby, gift shop and emergency room waiting area.
"The whole environment will be more welcoming for our patients and visitors and allow us to provide even better care," said Pender Memorial Hospital President Ruth Glaser.
For the next eight to ten weeks, the emergency department waiting area will be under construction. Guests will enter through the same entrance and just wait across the hallway in the outpatient surgery waiting area adjacent to the old emergency department waiting area.
Pender Memorial Hospital is an affiliate of New Hanover Regional Medical Center, the region’s tertiary hospital and trauma center. Designated a Critical Access Hospital because of its distance from other hospitals, Pender Memorial fulfills an important role for its neighbors by offering convenient access to emergency, diagnostic, rehabilitation and surgical services as well as inpatient care, short-term rehabilitation and long-term nursing care.
