Special Events

The New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation hosts a number of special events each year to thank donors and bring new donors into the Foundation family.  These annual events are a fun way to come together and help special projects in the hospital.  In addition to the Foundation-organized annual events listed below, there are other community-led events that raise needed funds and provide more opportunities to become involved.

Annual Events

Founders' Gala is the official kick-off event for Wilmington's social season, is the premiere black tie event in the area and the best party in town!

Over 600 attendees of the 13th Annual Founders' Gala Presented by Coastal Carolina Neonatology enjoyed savory dishes from some of Wilmington's finest restaurants in the Brazilian Carnaval  transformed Air Wilmington Hangar while rocking out with Party on the Moon. This year's event raised $120,000 to fully fund an endowment for the Betty H. Cameron Women's & Children's Hospital at NHRMC. Congratulations to Dr. Lenard Edralin, event chair, and his entire committee on this wonderful event! Sincere thanks to all our sponsors and attendees! With out your time, talent & efforts this endowment for the women and children served at NHRMC would not be possible!   

Red Dress Luncheon and Fashion Show- Proceeds from this annual event provide community wide cholesterol screenings, cardiac disease risk assessments and education materials for women in our region in hopes of curbing the devastating effects of heart disease amont women.  Lead by Shital Patel and the committee,  2013 event raised more than $28,000, fuding community-wide cholesterol screenings, cardiac disease risk assessments and education materials for women in the hope of curbing the devastating effects of heart disease among women. This year also raised funds for the Marlene Sigler Cardiac Rehab Endowment.  Thank you to all our sponsors, guests, retailers, models and volunteers!

Coastal Classic Celebrity Golf Tournament  Join us May 3 & 4 for our 21st Coastal Classic! This year is a 2 day tournament at the beautiful Nicklaus Course. Sponsorships are available and only a limited number of teams available.  

Over the past 20 years, the Coastal Classic has raised more than $2.4 million for New Hanover Regional Medical Center to purchase equipment, fund programs and provide vital services for our patients. 

Pink Ribbon Project Events are held throughout the month of October to provide needed funds for cancer services at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. These services include the Healing Arts Network, mammography screenings and Pink Ribbon comfort bags. In addition to the annual Pink Ribbon lunch and dinner there are a number of third-party and community partner events hosted by local business' and organizations held through out the month of October. The 2011-2012 Third Party events raised more than $120,000 for the NHRMC Pink Ribbon Project. We are proud to report that $60,000 was raised on October 4, 2012 at the luncheon and cocktail party!
