New Hanover Regional Medical Center ranked among "Best Hospitals" 07/18/2012 New Hanover Regional Medical Center has received national recognition in U.S. News & World Report’s annual rankings of Best Hospitals. NHRMC was recognized among the Best Hospitals in North Carolina and the Coastal Plain area. NHRMC was also recognized as high-performing in Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Gastroenterology, Orthopedics and Pulmonology.
“Providing quality care to our patients is our first priority and we are honored to be recognized for that care,” said Jack Barto, president and chief executive officer of New Hanover Regional Medical Center. “I am proud to work with such a dedicated team of physicians, nurses and staff who have worked hard to earn this achievement.”
This year’s Best Hospitals were ranked based on four elements: reputation, patient survival, patient safety, and care-related factors such as nursing and patient services. The rankings showcase approximately 720 of the nation’s roughly 5,000 hospitals. The Best Hospitals rankings judge medical centers on their competence in situations in which patients are especially at risk because of age, physical condition, infirmities, or the challenging nature of the surgery or other care they need.
“All of these hospitals are the kinds of medical centers that should be on your list when you need the best care,” said U.S. News Health Rankings Editor Avery Comarow. “They are where other hospitals send the toughest cases.”
