The birth of a child is an exciting and special event for every family. From time the time expectant mothers learn they're pregnant to the time of delivery, many birthing care services may be needed. Our highly specialized team of care providers promises you a helping hand and the very best, family-centered care at all points in your birthing journey.
Nearly 4000 lives get their start each year at the Betty H. Cameron Women's and Children's Hospital at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Parents take comfort the incredible surroundings of the Betty H. Cameron Women's and Children's Hospital and in knowing the staff is experienced in handling even the most difficult births. A maternal-fetal medicine physician, also called a perinatologist can assist when closer monitoring is required. The spacious labor and delivery rooms are equipped with the lastest technology as well as plenty of room for family members to provide support and encouragement in a peaceful setting. If a Cesarean birth is required, ther are three designated operating rooms right down the hall. After delivery, families and newborns move to the Mother / Baby Unit. All-private rooms include laundry, internet access, flat panel TV and DVD player, and fold out couch. A family kitchen and lounge is also availble for use in the unit. Lactation consultants are available to help breasting feeding mothers.
Labor & Delivery, 1st floor For expectant mothers in active labor when delivery - either vaginal or scheduled c-section - may only be hours away.
Antepartum, 1st floor For expectant mothers requiring close observation prior to delivery
