Vital Stim

VitalStim® therapy is provided by a specially trained speech-language pathologist. It is a technique which involves the re-education of swallowing muscles via neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NEMS) in combination with specific swallowing exercises. Individuals may benefit from this type of therapy if they are experiencing swallowing difficulties related to a stroke, head injury, cancer, or other neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease.
