Rehabilitation

Therapeutic Listening

Therapeutic Listening® combines a sound-based treatment with sensory integrative activities to address behaviors associated with sensory processing disorder in children. The child with sensory processing disorder is assessed by a licensed occupational therapist and a custom Therapeutic Listening® program is developed to meet that specific child's needs as appropriate. Modulated CDs and specialty headphones are used in the clinic and home environments. Improvement has been noted in these areas:

  • Attention span
  • Interaction with peers
  • Eye contact
  • Transitions between activities
  • Listening
  • Self-awareness
  • Communication skills
  • Sleep patterns
  • Following directions
  • Sensory modulation
  • Postural organization
