| Mark E. Allen, RPh, MBA, is the Director of Pharmacy at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. His current responsibilities include developing and disseminating a vision for providing a cutting-edge pharmacy service. Mark received a BS in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received his MBA at the University of Southern New Hampshire. He has been a hospital pharmacist since 1984 and a Director of Pharmacy since 1990.
Mr. Allen is co-preceptor for the Practice Management/Drug Use Policy rotation.

Melissa M. Blair, BS, PharmD, FCCP, FASHP, BCPS Pharmacist III, Residency Education PGY1 Residency Program Director
|
Melissa Blair is the PGY1 Residency Program Director and Pharmacist III for Residency Education at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Melissa received her B.S. in pharmacy at West Virginia University and returned to WVU for her Pharm D degree. She then completed a Family Medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Blair has practiced in a variety of pharmacy settings and has provided innovative patient care and educational services including starting a pharmacy-run clinic and developing several web-based educational products. She has served as a program director for both Pharmacy Practice and Family Medicine residency programs. She is board certified in pharmacotherapy, is a certified diabetes educator, and has received teaching excellence and residency preceptor of the year awards for her interactions with learners.
Dr. Blair is a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and has served as the Midyear Programming Chair for the ASHP Section of Home, Ambulatory, and Chronic Care Practitioners (SHACCP) for the several years. She is active in both ACCP and ASHP. Dr. Blair has presented results of her clinical services through several abstracts and publications. She has also edited PSAP chapters and served as the primary coordinator for the ACCP Ambulatory Care PRN Survival Guide. Additionally, she is on the Ambulatory Care Editorial Board for the Annals of Pharmacotherapy.

Mary Beth Bobek, PharmD Director, Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy |
| Dr. Mary Beth Bobek is currently the Director of Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy and a Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinical Pharmacist at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. Dr. Bobek is responsible for the development and implementation of medication protocols, guidelines, research and education for the Coastal Heart Center which includes the Coronary Care Unit, Catheterization/EP Labs, the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit, Post-Interventional Unit, Cardiac Telemetry Units and Cardiac Rehabilitation. She is Chairperson of Cardiac Pharmacy and Therapeutic Subcommittee and the Cardiac Research and Education Committee. She is also Clinical Assistant Professor, Division of Pharmacotherapy, School of Pharmacy, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Before joining New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Dr. Bobek was the Critical Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Her responsibilities included daily multidisciplinary rounds in the medical and surgical intensive care units but also the implementation of medication guidelines and protocols in these areas. At the Cleveland Clinic she also served as the Pharmacy Practice Residency Coordinator and Critical Care Clinical Staff Pharmacist Coordinator. She was appointed as Adjunct Assistant Professor and Course Director of Pharmacology at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Case Western Reserve University. She has had faculty appointments at Ohio State University and University of Toledo, Colleges of Pharmacy.
Among her accomplishments include multiple publications regarding sedation, medication guidelines and other drug-related issues in the intensive care unit. She also has received both the National Hospital Pharmacy Quality Award and the Award for Achievement in the Professional Practice of Pharmacy from ASHP Research and Education Foundation for work involving the documentation of pharmacy interventions, implementation and pharmacoeconomic analysis of a clinical staff pharmacist program at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Bobek speaks at local, state-wide, national and international meetings about both cardiovascular and intensive care unit pharmacotherapy. She has recently been selected to serve on the Anesthetic and Life Support Subcommittee at the Food and Drug Administration.
Dr. Bobek is a graduate of the University of Michigan were she received her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. She has also completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Illinois and Critical Care Residency at Detroit Receiving Hospital. Dr. Bobek precepts the Cardiology elective rotation.

| Lisa Edgerton is a Pharmacist III specializing in Family Medicine and Professional Development at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She maintains a clinical practice in association with the Family Medicine Residency Program at NHRMC Family Medicine. Her primary interests include disease prevention, diabetes, hypertension, chronic pulmonary obstructive disease, and peripheral arterial disease. She is a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), the ACCP Ambulatory Care PRN, American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists (ASHP), American Pharmaceutical Association (APhA), and the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists (NCAP). She has published several Clinical Inquires in the Journal of Family Practice. Dr. Edgerton received her Doctorate of Pharmacy from Campbell University in 2002, and completed a Primary Care residency at Moses Cone Family Practice Center in 2003.

Karen earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan and completed her PGY1 pharmacy residency at Beaumont Hospitals in Royal Oak, Michigan. | Jenna Reel is a Pharmacist III specializing in Community Practice at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Her primary interests include diabetes, hypertension, congestive heart failure, immunizations and anticoagulation. Jenna is a preceptor for PharmD students and PGY1 pharmacy residents. Jenna earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Clemson University and her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Dr. Reel completed an Ambulatory Care Specialty Residency at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina. Dr. Reel is board certified in pharmacotherapy. Jenna is a member of American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP), North Carolina Association of Pharmacists (NCAP) and American Pharmaceutical Association (APhA). Dr. Reel has been a pharmacist at NHRMC for five years.

Joshua completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC in 2009, and a PGY2 Critical Care Residency at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children's Hospital in Spokane, Washington in 2010. | Lesly Jurado is a pharmacist III specializing in Critical Care at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Lesly received her Pharm.D. degree at Rutgers University in New Jersey. She completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at St. Michael's Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey and a Critical Care Pharmacy Residency at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. She is responsible for developing and implementing medication protocols in the surgical trauma critical care unit and medical intensive care unit. She is also a member of the nutrition support team and manages parenteral nutrition in the critical care units.
Dr. Jurado is the preceptor for the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) rotation.

| Laurie Whalin is currently the Pharmacy Clinical Manager at New Hanover Regional Medical Center where she is responsible for managing and maintaining the institutional formulary as well as development and implementation of new clinical services, medication protocols, and guidelines.
Laurie received her B.S. in Marine Biology at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and her Pharm D from Campbell University. She then completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at New Hanover Regional Medical Center where she received the Pharmacy Resident Practice and Teaching Awards. She became a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist in October 2010. Laurie serves as a preceptor for Drug Information, Internal Medicine, and Medication Assistance rotations for UNC, Wingate, and Campbell University as well as PGY1 pharmacy practice residents. She is a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), the ACCP Adult Medicine and Critical Care PRNs, American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists (ASHP), Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists (NCAP). She serves as a peer reviewer for several publications including the Annals of Internal Medicine, and has published several chapters in an APhA publication, From Student to Pharmacist: Making the Transition, and co-authored a chapter in the Pharmacotherapy Casebook: A Patient-Focused Approach.

| Elizabeth Farrington is a Pharmacist III specializing in Pediatrics at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Elizabeth received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina (UNC) and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kentucky (UKy). She completed a 2 year Clinical Pharmacy residency (14 months in pediatrics) at the A.B. Chandler Medical Center at the University of Kentucky and a Pediatric Research Fellowship under the direction of Rich Leff, Pharm.D. at the University of Iowa. She is a member of the Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group (PPAG)[also a former board member], The American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) [Current member of the Board of regents], the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM)[former member of the clinical pharmacology section board], the North Carolina Association of Pharmacist (NCAP)and the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP).

| Robert is Clinical Assistant Professor and Regional Director with Wingate University School of Pharmacy. His clinical practice is at Cape Fear Heart Associates where he precepts P4 students from Wingate University. He earned his Doctorate of Pharmacy from Campbell University in 1990 and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia in 1991. His practice experience includes clinical pharmacist in Critical Care and Cardiology at Moses Cone Health System from 1991 to 2002, Director of Cardiovascular Wellness and Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner at Southeastern Heart and Vascular Center 2002-2003, clinical pharmacist and director at Alamance Medication Assistance Program, and PGY1 Residency Program Director at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Michael Edgerton is currently the Outpatient/Employee Pharmacy manager at NHRMC where he is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Outpatient Pharmacy and the Medication Assistance department. Michael received his B.S. in Biology at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and his Pharm D from Campbell University. Michael serves as a preceptor for Introduction to Community Pharmacy, Advanced Community and Medication Assistance rotations for several schools of pharmacy. He is also preceptor for the Practice Management component of the Community Practice residency. He is a member of the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists (ASHP) and the New Hanover Pharmacists Association.
Dr Edgerton is the preceptor for the practice management rotation for the PGY-C resident.

Brad Elliott is currently a Pharmacist II focused on the hematology/oncology unit at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He completed his Doctor of Pharmacy at Mercer University Southern School of Pharmacy in 2004. He became a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist in 2007, and is currently a member of the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA) and American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP). Additionally, Brad precepts fourth year pharmacy students during their last year of school for the Advanced Hospital Rotation with an emphasis in oncology.

Matthew Felbinger is a Pharmacist II specializing in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Felbinger received his Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Pittsburgh in 2010. He completed a PGY1 Residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Presbyterian University Hospital in 2011, and a PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC in 2012. He is a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP), and Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM). His research and practice interests include sedation, delirium, and toxicology.

Rachel Thomas is a Community Pharmacist II who works in the Outpatient Pharmacy and Employee Diabetes Management Program. She also works with the Employee Health staff to provide pharmacy recommendations for NHRMC employees. Rachel earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from John Carroll University and PharmD from The Ohio State University. She then completed a PGY-1 in Ambulatory/Community Care through The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. Rachel’s interests include ambulatory, community, and acute care. She is a member of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) and North Carolina Association of Pharmacists (NCAP).
Dr. Thomas is preceptor for the Employee Diabetes Management Program.

Originally from Chicago, Manav earned his Doctorate of Pharmacy degree for the University of Georgia and completed his PGY1 pharmacy residency here at NHRMC. He became board certified in pharmacotherapy in October 2011. He is a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), the ACCP Adult Medicine PRN, the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP), and the North Carolina Association of Pharmacy (NCAP). Manav has previously served as an advisor and project preceptor for the PGY1 residency program, and currently precepts PharmD students on nephrology and hospitalist/diabetes rotations.
