About Us

Performance Improvement

New Hanover Regional Medical Center believes commitment to quality and safety is the key to creating an environment for optimal care. Because each patient's needs and concerns are very different, we are constantly challenging ourselves to address them better.

NHRMC listens to each and every patient. If you have concerns, we want to hear about them. We will put our efforts into making sure they are addressed to your satisfaction. Through open communication, we have been able to institute a number of valuable initiatives aimed at improving quality and safety throughout our healthcare system.

Open Communication

In order to keep abreast of any communication concerns, our teams meet formally at regular intervals to review safety and performance data and suggest any improvements. At NHRMC, we understand that the best way to deliver the best care to each patient is to measure the performance of processes and use that data to make improvements.

Department-Specific Quality Initiatives

Each of our departments deliver the highest quality care and improve outcomes by measuring specific clinical indicators. These indicators include operating room procedures, pharmacy, staffing and bedside nursing care. These indicators follow national benchmarks.

Quality Pillar Goals

Our senior leadership meets annually to determine the quality pillar goals for the organization. All of the pillar goals are measurable and reported. We include goals such as maintaining high scores on the core measures, decrease infections rates and compliance.
