The SEAHEC Medical Library treats Residents as VIPs: We do literature searches, copy journal articles, and obtain interlibrary loans of journal articles. The Physical library is staffed 8-5 M-F; however, Residents can come in anytime with a badge swipe. The library spans 3 floors, and contains physical books and DVDs that can be checked out.
The Digital Library contains 140 ebooks, 2000 ejournals, the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, OVID Medline, Dynamed and much more. Residents also have access to UpToDate, MD-Consult, thousands of ejournals, and hundreds of ebooks through SEAHEC’s affiliation with the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Medicine Library.
The Robert M. Fales Health Sciences Library of SEAHEC is a medical library serving all health professionals in New Hanover, Pender, Duplin, Columbus, and Brunswick Counties. It is the largest health sciences library within 120 miles.

Group tours, orientation, and instruction are available by appointment by calling the library. Individual assistance in the use of library materials is always available from the library staff.

Outreach Librarian
Our outreach librarian visits mental health center, health department, hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and other health facilities in counties in southeastern North Carolina. Our librarian provides training on electronic databases and Internet.
