NHRMC uses a variety of different types of tools to support safe patient care and guide clinical practice.  These tools are generally based on proven outcomes, professional guidelines, legislative and or state regulations and licensing requirements, and organizational requirements and are used to facilitate compliance with required standards.

Standardization of patient care through the use of tools such as nursing clinical pathways, physician order sets, and protocols, is an effective way to assure the utilization of evidence-based medicine and decrease variation in care.
