Materials Management at NHRMC interacts with every department across the organization. Our team plays a key role in supporting what our caregivers do each day by ensuring they have the supplies they need to provide our patients with the highest level of care.
The materials management department offers a variety of rewarding opportunities, from entry level positions in our distribution center to opportunities for masters-prepared professionals. We hire team members from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of skill sets, including those with backgrounds in statistics, technology, management, distribution and clinical materials management.
Our department includes five areas:
- Purchasing - Purchases supplies for all departments in the organization
- Distribution - Warehouses and delivers supplies and equipment
- OR Materials Management - Purchases and distributes $10 million in OR inventory
- Couriers - Pick up and deliver lab specimens, supplies, cash, and medical records
- Central Processing and Distribution - Moves minor equipment used to support patient care such as IV pumps, wheel chairs and commodes
Our team is made up of a diverse group of more than 70 employees whose educational backgrounds range from GEDs to Masters Degrees. Our team members include Navy veterans, a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve and a nurse. We enjoy our jobs and our co-workers and look forward to coming to work each day.

Roles Critical to Our Success
Materials Management Information Systems Manager - Coordinates information technology activities in the department and oversees our computer system and network
Contract Administrator - Manages and oversees contract functions and purchase orders
Clinical Resource Manager – An RN who manages clinical products coming into the organization and oversees other clinical aspects of the supply chain function
Purchasing Manager - Oversees the procurement of goods and services for the organization
Distribution Managers - The materials management department employs two distribution managers, one for the OR and one for the rest of the hospital. Distribution managers are responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely receiving, warehousing and delivery of supplies throughout the organization.
