Covering a Disaster / Hospitalization of a Celebrity
In the event of a disaster, the hospitalization of a well-known person, or other event that draws large numbers of reporters to the hospital, we will do everything we can to ensure you have accurate and timely information. Extra staff will be called upon to meet your needs and a media information center may be established outside the main patient areas.
Members of the media should park away from the entrance of the Emergency Department to allow emergency vehicles, staff and patients' families easy access to the hospital. The size of the event will dictate how close you can get. We recognize you will want to be as near to what is happening as possible and we will accommodate you as best we can. Please understand the needs of our patients must come first.
All information from NHRMC will be released from the Marketing and Public Relations Department. This includes information from Cape Fear Hospital, Pender Memorial Hospital and New Hanover Regional EMS. Please do not try calling the switchboard operator or nursing supervisor. They will be far too busy to answer your calls and may not have the most accurate or current information available.
In the event a well-known person becomes a patient at New Hanover Regional Medical Center we will do all we can to release information normally made available to the media. Please remember, celebrities are afforded the same privacy measures as any other patient at NHRMC.
