The Diabetes Bus Initiative
NHRMC and Pender Memorial Hospital are now offering free diabetes education classes, collaborating with The Diabetes Bus Initiative to manage the classes. Certified Diabetes Educators teach the classes at the hospitals, with each class being a series of three sessions that includes: Diabetes 101, Healthy Eating with Diabetes, and Staying Healthy with Diabetes.
Participants must be referred by their physician, and a copy of the referral form must be completed and faxed to 919.876.8465. Click here for the referral form. Once a referral is received by The Diabetes Bus staff, they will contact the participant to schedule them for the class.
